Placements Office ORIC, University of Wah, in collaboration with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Rawalpindi, organized a seminar on “Entrepreneurship” as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024 from 18-23 November 2024. The event featured distinguished guests, including Mr. Fahad Barlas, Vice President of RCCI; Mr. Ali Waqas, CEO of Sheikh Traders; and Mr. Ayad Afzal Sheikh, CEO of Joy Digital. During the keynote address, Mr. Fahad Barlas shared his extensive experience in the business world. He spoke about the challenges that entrepreneurs face and offered strategies to overcome them. He also highlighted the importance of innovation, effective time management, and adopting a mindset of being job creators rather than job seekers. Mr. Ayad Afzal Sheikh and Mr. Ali Waqas also addressed the audience, offering an in-depth look at the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship. They emphasized the need for determination and resilience to succeed in the competitive world of business. Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director, ORIC, University of Wah thanked RCCI representatives for their collaboration and underlined the importance of such industry-academia partnerships. He echoed Mr. Barlas’s views on the significance of time management and entrepreneurship, urging students to embrace these concepts and share their own success stories.
The seminar also included a question-and-answer session where students engaged with the speakers on different topics ranging from navigating economic challenges and starting sustainable businesses to the role of RCCI in supporting entrepreneurs. Mr. Barlas provided practical advice, emphasizing the role of RCCI in fostering new ventures for sustainable economic growth. The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the guests, symbolizing the success of the seminar and the promise of future enriching events. It offered University of Wah students a valuable opportunity to learn directly from industry leaders, gaining insights into the key principles of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business practices.
