Established in 2004, the Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the largest departments of WEC. The Department offers BSc Electrical Engineering, BSc Electrical Engineering Technology, and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering which are well planned and devised according to recommendations and guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), and the National Technology Council (NTC). Electrical Engineering programs are operating under Level II of the OBE system. From Fall 2022, the Department of Electrical Engineering is going to start a new BS degree program in Software Engineering as per the requirement of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). So far, 14 baches of Electrical Engineering and 1 batch of Electrical Engineering Technology have been passed out and they are excelling in their respective fields. Our programs are crafted to groom students for required technical as well as managerial skills for practical life and to enable them to smoothly pursue higher studies.
Each program has an exceptional blend of theoretical aspects and extensive practical training to shape students into skillful professionals ready to take up real-world challenges in the industry. An updated curriculum of each program is followed and courses are offered by highly qualified faculty with reputable accomplishments in research, academic publications, and industrial projects. Faculty members and students are pursuing collaborative research with the industries in Pakistan. The Department provides excellent lab facilities equipped with software and hardware tools to support its academic programs.
The department manages participation of students in extracurricular activities such as industrial visits, sports week, cultural day, community service, clubs/ society’s events, recreational visits, blood donation camp besides arranging Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops/ seminars/ lectures, technical trainings, project-expos, etc. by experts from industry and academic backgrounds for constant knowledge up-gradation of faculty, staff, and students. Most importantly, the IEEE chapter Electrical Engineering Department at WEC is a worthwhile opportunity for students to develop professional, leadership, and communication skills. Furthermore, the department also facilitates its students in getting internships to gain hands-on experience and enhance the utilization of their knowledge.
The Department has a vibrant research program both at the faculty and graduate level. The graduate programs consist of advanced courses in Power, Communications, Signal Processing, Controls, etc. Students are required to opt for one of these specialization areas and undertake research in the chosen field.
