Seminar on Women's Health and Wellness

Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC)-UW, in collaboration with the Department of Biosciences, hosted a seminar on women's health and wellness on 07 May 2024. The seminar aimed to inspire female attendees to take proactive steps towards achieving holistic well-being and realizing their full potential. Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfer, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, graced the event as a chief guest. Dr. Madeeha Malik, resource person for the event, CEO of Cyntax Health Ltd., Islamabad and a distinguished figure in the health and wellness field, delivered an enlightening briefing on holistic health strategies focusing on emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Dr. Malik provided invaluable insights into nurturing confidence and achieving personal and professional success. The seminar covered key topics such as understanding the interconnectedness of emotional, physical, and mental health, practical stress management strategies, cultivating self-care habits, and empowering women to prioritize their health for overall success. Dr. Malik's profound expertise, dedication towards women's health and wellness and personalized advice to attendees fostered a supportive community that encouraged women to share their experiences and prioritize their overall well-being.

Interactive Session on Earning through Freelancing

A team of students from the Department of Computer Science-UW visited Base Girls College, Wah Cantt on 17 March 2023. As a community service, the visit aimed to deliver an interactive session on the awareness of online earning through freelancing. The Session, delivered by students of 4th and 8th Semesters of Computer Science department, provided the College students, with an understanding of various freelancing skills, particularly web development, content writing, and graphic designing.

Kashmir Solidarity Walk

Directorate of Students Affairs, University of Wah organized ‘Kashmir Solidarity Walk’ on 3 February, 2022 to express support for the people of occupied Kashmir and their right to self-determination under the United Nation Resolutions. Dr. Wazir Zada Khan, Acting Dean Faculty of Computer Sciences, Director Student Affairs; Dr. Qazi Mahmood Ul Hassan, Chairpersons, Faculty members and the students attended the walk. Director Academics, Dr. Saleem Iqbal addressed the participants of the Walk and paid homage to Kashmiris and their struggle for independence. Students displayed posters and Placards to exhibit their feelings on Indian occupation of Kashmir. In the end, Director Students Affairs offered a note of thanks to all the participants.

Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness

Mashal Degree College organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar on 24th October, 2019. The keynote speakers included Dr Sadia Nadeem and Dr Afshan Haroon from Wah Medical College. Both speakers briefed the audience about cancer risks, causes as well as symptoms and emphasized that an early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. The audience took keen interest in the enlightening session. At the end, the seminar was followed by a QA session.

Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns are regularly organized at the University to aid the much needed cognizance and education against breast cancer, which the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death due to cancer.

Awareness Campaigns against Epidemics/Disease Outbreaks

For awareness of the community and general public, UW organizes regular campaigns against various epidemics and prevailing disease outbreaks. Precautions against COVID and Anti-Dengue Awareness campaigns through Poster and Model Competitions have been held recently.

Mental Health Camps

Camps on mental health issues, quite prevalent in today’s stressful environment, are organized to promote awareness regarding mental health, psychological well-being, and stress management in the populace.
