In 1978, the Government of Pakistan declared Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies as compulsory subjects at all levels of education up to the first degree, including professional degrees. Department of Islamic and Pakistan Studies aims at providing quality education in Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. It enables the students to apply this knowledge and skills in their lives as well as for the betterment of society.
Detailed concepts are presented to the students in the subjects of Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies, as the ideology of Pakistan and origin of Two-Nation Theory is based on fundamental principles of Islam, our cultural history and social values. The subjects of Islamic and Pakistan Studies are offered and taught to all the departments of the University.
The students studying these subjects are not only given theoretical concepts but are also taken on cultural tours and visits to historical sites, having deep linkage with Islamic tradition and culture/civilization of Pakistan. Furthermore, the Department strives to inculcate in its students a strong Muslim identity, fostering brotherhood, strengthening moral character and integrating Islamic knowledge with human values in a positive manner. The Department produces better quality intellectuals and scholars by integrating the qualities of faith, knowledge and good character to serve as mediator for sustainable development in Pakistan and the Muslim world.

(1) Four-year BS/MA (16 years of education) in Islamic Studies or equivalent with a CGPA of 2.0 (out of 4.0) (in semester system) and 50% (in annual system) from HEC recognized institution. (2) HEC-HAT/GAT with minimum 50 % marks required at the time of admission or admission test conducted by the Departmental Committee with minimum 50 % marks. |
