The Placement Office–ORIC, University of Wah (UW), in collaboration with Faculties of Engineering, Computer Science, and Management Sciences, organized its annual Open House and Job Fair 2025 on 15 May 2025. The event served as a dynamic platform to bridge the gap between academia and industry by showcasing student innovation and fostering meaningful industry engagement.
The event brought together over 76 final-year students who presented their innovative Final Year Projects (FYPs) focused on smart technologies, sustainable design, process optimization, and digital transformation. The projects were evaluated by the audience of industry professionals, academic leaders, and corporate recruiters, highlighting the students’ technical skills and creative problem-solving capabilities.
Over 42 renowned companies from diverse sectors-including technology, banking, consultancy, education, manufacturing, and engineering, participated in the fair. Notable names included Askari Bank, Global Engineering Services, Bahoo Enterprises, MachaDev Engineering, Neon Consultants, 4P Group, PHITECH Solutions, and Qaswa Industries. Employers engaged directly with students through on-the-spot interviews, networking sessions, and project evaluations, and offered valuable insights into potential career paths and job opportunities.
Engr. Waseem Nazir, Chairman, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), graced the ceremony as the chief guest. He visited each project booth and lauded the students’ creativity and technical proficiency. Engr. Nazir also emphasized the importance of strengthening industry-academia collaboration for national workforce development and introduced several PEC initiatives, including the digitization of PEC operations, the online registration process for graduating engineers, and the Brain Gain platform, a project aimed at connecting overseas Pakistani engineers with the local community to inspire fresh graduates and foster national progress.
In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Jameel-un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, appreciated the participation of industry representatives and praised the efforts of students and faculty. He congratulated the ORIC team for organizing the event in a befitting manner and reiterated the university’s commitment to excellence in education, innovation, and career development.
The day concluded with an award and recognition ceremony, where shields and certificates were presented to sponsors, participating companies, and student teams whose projects were rated the best. Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director, Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC)-UW delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks and reaffirmed UW’s dedication and mission to promote experiential learning, enhance student-industry interactions, and equip graduates with the tools, skills, and networks necessary for meaningful professional success to deepen industry linkages through future MoUs and collaborative ventures.
