Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA)-UW, as part of its commitment to public health and community service, organized an “Awareness Seminar” and “Blood Donation Camp” on 27 February 2025, following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Thalassemia Welfare Society, Blood Donation Foundation, Rawalpindi. The seminar aimed to educate students on the significance of blood donation, its life-saving potential, and the positive impact of voluntary contributions. The event featured Maj. Gen. Parvez Ahmed, HI (M) (Retd.), CEO of Pakistan Thalassemia Welfare Society and Blood Donation Foundation, Rawalpindi, as the guest speaker. He highlighted the crucial role of regular blood donation in supporting patients with thalassemia and other life-threatening conditions. His inspiring address encouraged students to take an active role in humanitarian efforts and contribute to social responsibility initiatives.
The seminar ended in a highly successful blood donation camp, where over 53 male and female students donated blood. Their participation showed a strong commitment to saving lives and promoting a culture of generosity and care.
This initiative, facilitated by Directorate of Student Affairs-UW, significantly enhances public health awareness, underscores the university's commitment to community engagement, and fosters a culture of volunteerism among students for future healthcare efforts.
