To foster academic engagement and deepen discussions on macroeconomic challenges and policy reforms, Dr. Sania Shaheen, Assistant Professor of Economics Department, participated in the Training of Teachers (ToT) Workshop titled "The Role of Central Bank in the Economy: A Deep Dive into Monetary and Economic Policymaking". The workshop was held at the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF), Islamabad, from 26–27 February 2025.
The workshop, organized under the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) Strategic Plan 2023–2028, aimed to enhance participants' understanding of monetary policy, economic governance, and key policy challenges. The sessions covered a range of topics, including the functions and governance structure of the SBP, recent policy reforms, and the monetary policy transmission mechanism. Additionally, participants gained valuable insights into the SBP’s Strategic Plan 2022–2028 and its implications for economic policymaking.
The workshop concluded with an interactive group activity, where participants analyzed a real-world economic scenario and determined an appropriate policy rate based on the principles discussed during the sessions. This hands-on approach reinforced key concepts and encouraged collaborative problem-solving among participants.
