In celebration of International Women’s Day, Dr. Sania Shaheen, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Areesha Sajid, a BS-V student from the Department of Economics, University of Wah took part in a distinguished webinar titled "Women of Impact: Honoring the Senior Leaders and Mentors of the Pakistan Economic Forum" on 08 March 2025. The webinar was organized by the Pakistan Economic Forum (PEF) in collaboration with the Institute for Future Studies and Research (IFSR), the nation’s largest social organization in economics, which is connected to 120 institutes and a community of over 30,000 members.
Dr. Sania Shaheen was invited as a guest speaker, while Ms. Areesha Sajid served as a moderator alongside Ms. Nazish Kanwal from the International Islamic University Islamabad and Ms. Salwa Ashraf from Zamindar College Gujrat. The session featured panel of accomplished women from academia and research, including Dr. Samina Khalil, Former Research Professor and Director at the Applied Economics Research Centre; Dr. Saima Khan, Assistant Professor and Head of the Global Studies Department at GC University Lahore; Dr. Saima Asad, Assistant Professor at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University; and Dr. Madiha Riaz, Associate Professor at Islamia University Bahawalpur.
The webinar shed light on the invaluable contributions of women in research, academia, and economic development. Speakers shared their professional journeys, offering insights into leadership, mentorship, and the evolving role of women in these fields. They also reflected on the challenges they have overcome and the achievements that have defined their careers. The event served as an inspiring platform, motivating young professionals and reinforcing the significant role of women in shaping Pakistan’s academic and economic landscape.
