Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA)-UW, to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir, observed "Black Day" on 29 October 2024. The program, titled “Remembering Black Day in Kashmir: A Day of Awareness,” sought to raise awareness about the ongoing situation in Kashmir through a series of impactful activities and thought-provoking discussions. It included a debating competition, heartfelt Milli Naghma performances, and an informative session on the significance of Kashmir Black Day. The event commenced with reciting from the Holy Quran, setting a reflective tone for the day. Key student organizations such as the Literary & Debating Society, the Performing Arts & Entertainment Society, and the Young Peace & Development Corps were actively involved, bringing their unique perspectives and energy to the program. The highlight of the event was the debating competition, during which students engaged in passionate discussions about the Kashmir issue. Muhammad Younas Khan won the competition and received a cash prize from the judges. Ms. Pinkish Zahra and Ms. Riffat Naseer, lecturers in the Department of English and Islamic Studies, were the respective judges, along with Engr. Waqas Javid from DDSA-WEC.
