Department of English, University of Wah organized a two-day, 23-24 October 2023, International Conference on Globalization, Inclusion, and Diversity (GIDES 2023). The event gathered together scholars, educators, and professionals from around the globe to delve into crucial subjects spanning globalization, inclusion, and diversity within English Studies. Professor Dr. Syed Habah Bukahri, Vice Chancellor, Kohsar University, was the distinguished Chief Guest whose participation and thoughts offered a distinctive depth to the event. Professor Dr. Asim Karim, Conference Chair and Chairperson, Department of English, and Professor Dr. Adnan Tariq, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, in their inaugural addresses, welcomed both national and international participants and emphasized the importance of a research-intensive culture and the value of inclusivity and diversity in academia. Dr. Jatte, Hansen Edwards, University of Hong Kong; Dr. Maya Khemlani, University of Malaya; Dr. Paul Pule, Coventry University Australia; Dr. Iren Boyarkina, University of Rome La Sapienza Italy; Dr. Azadeh Mehrpouyan Velayat, University Iranshahr; and Dr. Mohd Muzhafar Idrus, University Sains Islam Malaysia. Aside from that, a number of national speakers presented their presentations, including Associate Professor Dr. Shafat Yar Khan, University of Central Punjab; Associate Professor Dr. Uzma Anjum, Air University Islamabad; Dr. Shazia Rose, Faiqa Ahmad & Dr. Anila Gill, NUML University, and Dr. Osama Siddique, a prominent novelist, who shed light on the most recent trends and advancements in English Studies.
The conference showcased a galaxy of academics, participants, and guests from across the country and overseas, with more than 10 international experts and 50 local presentations. Hundreds of individuals enthusiastically participated, where they explored a wide range of themes, discussed their research findings, and engaged in thought-provoking debates. The conference concluded on a high note, having been an interesting two-day event of scholarly discussions, discourses, and encounters.
