Department of Economics-UW in collaboration with the College of Global Liberal Arts (GLA), Ritsumeikan University, Japan, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS), the Pakistan Science Foundation, and the Natural National Science Foundation of China, organized a seminar on the topic "Meteorological Factors and Household Energy Behavior: Does Digital Inclusion Serve Adaptation?" on 10 March 2025.
Dr. Saeeda Batool, Associate Professor of Economics at the College of Global Liberal Arts, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, was invited as the guest speaker. The seminar highlighted the impact of meteorological factors on household energy consumption and the role of digital inclusion in adaptation. It fostered academic collaboration, encouraged discussions on sustainable energy practices, and facilitated networking among researchers and students.
Dr. Batool is currently visiting Pakistan for her research on “Wellbeing and Economic Development”, funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS). To foster academic collaboration, Dr. Asma Arif, Chairperson, Department of Economics and Dr. Saeeda Batool have been organizing a series of interactive research sessions funded by JSPS. These sessions aim to enhance faculty-student engagement and facilitate meaningful discussions on pressing economic issues. The seminar provided a vital platform for knowledge exchange, strengthening academic ties between the University of Wah, Pakistan, and Ritsumeikan University, Japan.
