Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, addressed faculty and staff members on 24 October 2024, highlighting their key role in the university’s progress and development. In his address, he commended the faculty for being the torchbearers of academic excellence, emphasizing that their dedication and hard work are the cornerstone of the university's achievements. The Vice-Chancellor outlined the essential qualities that every teacher should possess- teaching, research, administrative capabilities, and community service. He stressed that faculty members should be role models for their students, leading by example. To achieve this, he encouraged faculty to continuously improve themselves and enhance their qualifications, emphasizing the importance of professional development in shaping the next generation of leaders. He also shared his goal to expand the number of PhD-qualified faculty members to 100. Of 188 faculty members, 69 hold PhDs, with many pursuing their doctoral studies. He also shared with the faculty that, by the grace of Almighty, UW is now eligible for international rankings and will apply for the QS Asia University Rankings, aligning its standards with global expectations to prepare graduates for top roles worldwide. The Vice-Chancellor reassured the faculty of the university's unwavering commitment to their development, inspiring them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
To support the faculty’s growing needs, Vice Chancellor highlighted the construction of a new block, which will provide much-needed space for offices and other facilities upon completion. He also discussed the upcoming plans to upgrade classrooms, ensuring an environment conducive to enhanced learning and teaching. Additionally, he highlighted the university's continued commitment to providing medical facilities for staff, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to the well-being and healthcare of its employees.
Acknowledging that 86% of the university's faculty are female, the Vice Chancellor reiterated the institution's unwavering commitment to safeguarding their rights. He highlighted the successful implementation of the harassment policy last year and assured that the university would prioritize the well-being and security of all staff members, particularly the female faculty, creating an environment of respect and protection.
