Department of Biosciences, University of Wah (UW), to bridge the gap between academic learning, industry practices and equip students with valuable insights into the dynamic and rapidly evolving IVD sector, organized an insightful session titled "Career Opportunities in the IVD Industry: A Glimpse into Quality Assurance and R&D" on 23 December 2024. The event featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Zumara Younas, Director of Quality Control & Quality Assurance and R&D, Wah Cantt; Mr. Muhammad Huzaifa, Production Head; and Ms. Madiha Rashid, R&D Scientist at Lab Diagnostic Systems. Dr. Shumaila Naz, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences-UW, and the focal person of the event, inaugurated the session by highlighting the pivotal role of the In vitro Diagnostics (IVD) industry in the healthcare sector and highlighted the growing demand for diagnostic tools and the industry's diverse career prospects for Biosciences graduates.
Dr. Zumara Younas, in her comprehensive presentation, focused on career opportunities within Quality Assurance, quality control, research & development in the IVD industry, emerging trends, challenges, and the latest advancements in diagnostic technologies. She also elaborated on the development of diagnostic products, regulatory compliance, and the essential skills required to excel in these fields. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students received practical advice on skills development, internships, and navigating the job market. A commemorative shield was presented to Dr. Zumara Younas to honor her valuable contributions.
