Department of Computer Science-UW organized an enlightening seminar, "Data Science and Advances in AI," on 08 May 2024. The seminar aimed to provide insights into the latest data science and artificial intelligence developments, focusing on practical applications and future trends shaping our world. Dr. Usman Qamar, Professor, HoD, CEME-NUST, Pakistan, and Director, Knowledge and Data Science Research Centre, a distinguished academic and researcher, was the resource person. Dr. Usman Qamar highlighted the importance of data science basics, data engineering, and decision sciences in making data-driven decisions and discussed AI advancements in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing. During his discussion, Dr. Qamar emphasized the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and ethical frameworks to address the societal implications of emerging AI trends, such as federated learning and autonomous systems. A large number of students and faculty of the Computer Science Department attended the seminar and actively participated in an interactive Q&A session.
