University of Wah, through its Radio Station UW FM 101.8, observed Kashmir Solidarity Day on 05 February 2025, with a 13-hour special transmission aimed at raising awareness about Kashmir issue and showing solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The broadcast featured insightful discussions from prominent experts, including Prof. A. Wasim Khattak, Chairman of Mass Communication Department, Women’s University Swabi. He emphasized the media's vital role in advocating for Kashmir’s right to self-determination and the need for consistent international support. He also highlighted the media's potential to expose human rights violations in Kashmir despite challenges like restricted access.
Mr. Naeemullah Yousafzai, Senior Journalist at PTV News Islamabad, underscored the crucial role of journalism in amplifying the voices of Kashmiris. He stressed that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts must receive stronger global backing, with youth and media playing a key role in sustaining the Kashmir cause through activism and cultural platforms. Ms. Samreen Haider, Lecturer, Department of Islamic Studies, University of Wah, spoke about the importance of unity and solidarity in supporting the Kashmir cause. Prof. Asghar Khan Askari, Assistant Professor at Riphah International University, Islamabad, emphasized that Kashmir is integral to Pakistan’s identity and called for continued support for the region’s struggle for justice.
The transmission also featured a special documentary, national songs, and various creative content, including animated video and short video messages by Ms.Sadia Mehmood, Student, Psychology Department-UW. These segments helped spread the message of peace and justice across multiple platforms. The transmission highlighted the university’s commitment to promoting human rights and raising global awareness about the Kashmir issue.
