Dr. Asma Arif, Chairperson, Department of Economics, University of Wah, participated as a key speaker in the Post-Budget Seminar 2025-2026, organized by Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, in collaboration with Pakistan Economics Frontier on 17 June 2025. The seminar focused on the national budget’s implications for development, welfare, and fiscal stability. Dr. Asma provided a critical analysis of the budget’s priorities, emphasizing the imbalance between increased defense spending and the continued underfunding of education and healthcare. She advocated for a revised National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, highlighting that the current fiscal framework does not align with the provinces' revenue- generating capacity and development responsibilities. She also stressed the importance of investing in human capital and called for more inclusive and development-oriented fiscal policies. Her insightful contribution was well-received by the audience, which included senior academics, policymakers, and media professionals.
