Department of Management Sciences, University of Wah, organized a lecture on the Blue Economy, delivered by Dr. Xihui Chen, Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance at Keele University, UK, on 07 May 2025. Dr. Chen, a renowned corporate governance and sustainability expert, shared valuable insights into the strategic importance and emerging opportunities within the Blue Economy. In her lecture, Dr. Chen highlighted the vital role of ocean-based industries in fostering sustainable economic development. She covered key areas such as renewable energy, sustainable fisheries, and marine biotechnology, stressing the importance of responsible governance to ensure the long-term viability of ocean resources. The event attracted a diverse audience, including faculty members, students, and industry professionals, who actively participated in discussions about how businesses, governments, and academic institutions can collaborate to promote sustainable ocean-based economies. Dr. Chen further emphasized the critical role of corporate governance in ensuring that ventures within the Blue Economy are managed responsibly and ethically.
