Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wah, organized an enlightening seminar titled “Media Literacy: Understanding, Using, and Sharing Information Wisely” on 21 May 2025. The event brought together students and faculty for a compelling discourse on the role of media literacy in today’s digital world. The session aimed to equip students with critical thinking skills to verify content and become responsible digital citizens.
The seminar was a collaborative initiative by the Departments of Economics, Islamic Studies, Education, and Sociology. It was led by departmental focal persons Ms. Rehana Ali Naqvi (Lecturer, Economics), Dr. Sania Shaheen (Assistant Professor, Economics), Ms. Fozia Ayub (Lecturer, Islamic Studies), Ms. Shehla Nazmeen (Lecturer, Sociology), and Ms. Uzma Ghori (Lecturer, Education).
Through engaging presentations and dynamic discussions, the speakers underscored the critical importance of media literacy in navigating the complexities of the digital age. They addressed the growing threat of misinformation and fake news, emphasizing the need for critical thinking and ethical content sharing. Attendees were encouraged to verify facts before sharing content and to prioritize truth and awareness in their online interactions. The session concluded with a resonant message: in an era dominated by rapid information exchange, the pursuit of truth and media awareness is more essential than ever.
