University of Wah (UW) and the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration on sustainable development and social impact initiatives across Pakistan. The signing ceremony, held at UW, was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. The UW team included Brig. (R) Haroon Abbas Khan, Registrar; Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC; Prof. Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Dean Management Sciences; Prof. Dr. Asim Karim, Dean Social Sciences; and Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Chairperson, Department of Sociology and focal person for the collaboration. ACTED Pakistan was represented by Mr. Sarfraz Laldin, Country Director; Mr. Sardar Khalid, Program Coordinator; and Ms. Iqra Riffat, Project Development Officer.
The event featured a productive discussion on joint projects in disaster management, climate change, wastewater management, inclusive education, and socio-economic development, especially skill-building for differently-abled children in underserved areas. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to promoting climate resilience, emergency preparedness, and community uplift through joint research, consultancy, internships, and outreach programs. Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC-UW, and Mr. Sarfraz Laldin, Country Director-ACTED, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. As a token of appreciation, Brig. (R) Haroon Abbas Khan presented a commemorative shield to Mr. Sarfraz Laldin.
This MoU signifies the commencement of a strategic alliance intended to promote inclusive and sustainable development through collaboration between academic institutions and practitioners.
