UW FM 101.8 Radio, University of Wah, has launched an informative podcast series, Human Psychology and Mental Health Awareness, which aims to promote awareness on mental health, create a healthier, more informed society, and provide basic psychological knowledge to the masses. The podcast series, hosted by Mr. Umer Hayat Khan, Station Manager-UW and Ms. Syeda Areej Fatima, student, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi features discussions with renowned experts on various psychological and mental health issues and offers valuable insights and practical advice on managing mental health challenges, fostering a more informed and supportive community.
In the inaugural episode, Ms. Erum Bibi, a psychologist, palmist, astrologist, psycho-spiritual healer, and lecturer at NUML University, Islamabad, discussed PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), its distinctions from other stress disorders, its causes, and symptoms. She also shared real-life examples of her PTSD patients and the challenges they encounter. The discussion also addressed recovery options, such as therapy, counseling, and family support, underscoring the significance of public awareness and education on PTSD and mental health.
The second episode, “Addiction”, featured a prominent social media personality, Ms. Mehreen Mukhtar, a clinical psychologist and visiting lecturer at Fatima Jinnah Women's University and Rawalpindi Women's University. This episode explored how addiction has evolved among the younger generation and identified the types of addiction prevalent in 2024 beyond substance use. Ms. Mukhtar discussed the causes, factors, and daily life issues associated with addiction, as well as the social perceptions of addiction and the recovery process.
