Department of Computer Science organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled "Outcome-Based Education in Computing: Practical Strategies for Success" on 20 December 2024. The session, led by Dr. Imran Ashraf, Associate Professor at NUCES-FAST, Islamabad, aimed to enhance faculty members' understanding of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and its practical implementation in computing disciplines. Dr. Imran introduced the OBE framework, highlighting its alignment with international accreditation standards and its focus on the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains to develop intellectual, technical, and professional skills. He provided insights into designing assessments that evaluate critical thinking and technical proficiency, alongside guidelines for creating measurable rubrics for theoretical and lab-based courses. Strategies for mapping Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) to Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and integrating feedback mechanisms were also discussed. During an interactive Q&A session, participants shared their challenges in adopting OBE, and Dr. Imran offered practical solutions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for consistent implementation. The program was organized by Ms. Rida Zahra, Ms. Habiba Arshad, Ms. Marrium Azhar, and Ms. Amna Sarwar, lecturers in the Department of Computer Science, to foster professional growth and advance educational standards. In the end, a commemorative shield is presented to the distinguished guest.
