University of Wah FM 101.8 radio marked Defence Day with a series of special broadcasts honoring the sacrifices and bravery of Pakistan's armed forces. The station curated various programs throughout the day to celebrate the significance of 6th September and inspire patriotism among the youth. The day began with a special program titled "6th September Special with Froebel’s School Wah Cantt," hosted by Mr. Umar Hayat Khan, Station Manager. The program featured the principal, students, and teachers of Froebel’s School, Wah Cantt, who discussed the importance of Defence Day and the role of students and youth in building a positive image of Pakistan. This was followed by a two-hour segment of national and patriotic songs related to the 6th of September, adding a musical tribute to the occasion.
A special documentary on the celebrations of 6th September, highlighting the significance of Defence Day and the parade, was included in the broadcast, with Mr. Umar Hayat Khan serving as the host of this 30-minute program. Ms. Samreen Haider, Lecturer, Islamic Studies Department, hosted "Painda Pakistan," a 30-minute segment highlighting the bravery of Pakistan's armed forces. Additionally, the station aired a special documentary on all Nishan-e-Haider holders, narrating these national heroes' lives and war history. Several interviews that provided intimate insights into the sacrifices of the country's soldiers were also featured. Mr. Umar hosted a special interview with a 1965 war veteran, soldier Amir Haider, who discussed his life and experiences during the war. The station then aired a series of interviews with the families of martyrs (Shuhada). Each interview provided a moving account of the lives and sacrifices of these brave soldiers, adding a deeply emotional and personal element to the day's programming and fostering a sense of connection and empathy among the listeners.
The special broadcasts also included a dedicated Nazm by Dr. Musarrat Malik, Chairperson, Department of Islamic Studies-UW, and a Special Message from Dr. Musarrat Ramazan, Dean, Wah Medical College, Wah Cantt, which further enriched the day's programming. Additionally, the station featured three public messages from University of Wah students from Biosciences and Psychology Departments, expressing their gratitude and admiration for the armed forces and emphasizing the significance of Defence Day.
