Department of Computer Science conducted the first Faculty Development Program (FDP) session titled "Faculty Excellence and Industry-Societal Needs Driven Research for Sustainable Development" on 10 August 2023. This session aims to enhance faculty members' skills, knowledge, and understanding to effectively cater to industrial and societal needs through research and academic excellence. A distinguished foreign faculty member, Mr. Muhammad Usman, an expert in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, Edge Hill University, divided the discussion into two main segments. The first segment, Faculty Excellence Program, focused on strategies to enhance faculty excellence by adopting Effective Teaching Methodologies, especially student-centric teaching approaches like active learning, flipped classrooms, and technology integration, to engage and empower students in their learning process. Moreover, he also stressed the importance of fostering a mentor-mentee relationship with students to provide academic guidance, career counseling, and personal support. The second segment, Industry-Societal Needs-Driven Research for Sustainable Development, delved into the role of research to address industrial and societal needs for sustainable development. He guided faculty members to identify research areas aligned with the current needs of industries and society and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle complex challenges.
Faculty members, through discussions and case studies, had the opportunity to share their experiences and brainstorm ideas for potential research projects.
