The Department of Computer Science-UW organized an inclusive training session for using the Outcome-based Education (OBE) module of AVICENNA (campus management system) for faculty on 19 May 2023. Outcome-based education (OBE) is an educational methodology where each aspect of education is organized around a set of goals (outcomes). The OBE maps and measures students’ performance at every step. The OBE model aims to maximize student learning outcomes by developing their knowledge and skills. Engr. Rehan Farooq, Manager IT-UW, was the resource person who delivered a talk to make faculty familiar with the use of AVICENNA for assessment purposes. Moreover, he explained the hierarchy of implementation and assessment criteria to evaluate Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), along with the importance of implementing the OBE system and important points related to the advisory board, students’ feedback, and the significance of achieving CLOs and mapping them to PLOs. This fruitful session was attended by a large number of faculty members from Computer Science and allied departments to smoothly adopt the OBE system.
