    8th Commencement 2019

    Eighth Commencement of University of Wah was held on Thursday, 14th November, 2019 at University Auditorium. His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Sarwar, Governor of the Punjab and Chancellor University of Wah graced the Commencement Ceremony as Chief Guest. A total of 1136 Undergraduate and Graduate students were conferred degrees in the disciplines of Basic Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering Sciences, Management Sciences and Social Sciences & Humanities. Thirty-three high achievers were awarded Gold Medals, Distinguished Students’ Award in their respective Faculties and Student of the Year Award. Addressing on the occasion, Chancellor of the University, congratulated the graduating students on their splendid success and extolled University of Wah for providing exceptional knowledge skills to its students thereby enabling them to lead a professionally rewarding life. He also stressed on the youth to equip themselves with requisite competencies to face future challenges efficiently. Earlier in his welcome address, Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest for his valuable presence at the Ceremony. He apprised the audience about salient features of the University, including conducive academic environment, state-of-the-art facilities, timely accreditation of its programs and highly qualified faculty. He reiterated the University’s vision of producing socially responsible citizens and motivated the graduating students to play a constructive role in the society. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior officers, parents of the graduating students and community representatives. In the end, the Chief Guest and the Vice Chancellor extended their felicitations to the graduating students and their parents for achieving an academic milestone in their lives and wished them a prosperous future ahead.

    Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness

    Mashal Degree College organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar on 24th October, 2019. The keynote speakers included Dr Sadia Nadeem and Dr Afshan Haroon from Wah Medical College. Both speakers briefed the audience about cancer risks, causes as well as symptoms and emphasized that an early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. The audience took keen interest in the enlightening session. At the end, the seminar was followed by a QA session.

    Briefing on Studying in Tuition-Free Universities of Germany

    Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD) organized a briefing session on “Opportunities for Studying in Tuition Free Universities of Germany” for UW students on 23rd October, 2019. Maj General (R) Shaukat Iqbal, Head of Eurasia and Global Study Experts, resourced the event. He discussed how public universities in Germany are operating tuition-free education and offer world-class degrees to all prospective students. He also apprised the audience about the significance of German language. Students from all academic disciplines attended the session and discussed their queries at the end.

    Activity on Suicide Prevention

    Department of Psychology, University of Wah arranged an interactive activity on 21st October, 2019 under the theme “Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention” on Global Mental Health Day by World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH). The activity aimed at raising awareness regarding suicide as a universal health problem. The students, under the slogan “Say No to Suicide”, displayed banners, pana flex and paintings in University premises to illustrate the significance of mental health for adults as well as young people. They also highlighted the rise in suicide tendency amongst the society and urged the community to promote conversation and discussion on problematic behaviors, that may lead to an ultimate loss.

    UGRAD Alumni Talk

    Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD) organized one day Alumni Talk as part of Global Undergraduate Semester Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) under The United States Education Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) on 15th October, 2019. The core objective of the talk was to motivate and guide students regarding the importance and application process of the student’s exchange program. The talk was conducted in three sessions. The first session was resourced by Ms. Attiya Urooj, who was the 1st UGARD Alumni of UW. She shed light on the application procedure and highlighted the fruitful outcome for the students under this program. Mr. Tabish Gul, Lecturer, Department of Psychology and also a UGRAD Alumni conducted the second session. While sharing his experience, he emphasized on the importance of community service and academia for a Global UGRAD applicant. A Q&A session was held at the end. Students from both campuses appreciated the efforts of CPD for conducting an informative and interactive session.

    We are happy to announce that with the kind approval of the Vice Chancellor, the broadcast timings of UW FM 101.8 have been extended from 3:30 PM to 9 PM. With this incorporated duration of FM broadcast will now be "from 8:15 AM to 9:00 PM" (Monday to Friday) starting from June 10, 2019.
