Department of Management Sciences, University of Wah organized an insightful webinar on 26 September 2024, titled 'Sustainable Finance: Bridging the Gap between Policy and Action’. Dr. Jamshed Ali, Assistant Professor and Head of the Initiative for JS Chair on Sustainable Finance and Fintech at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, was the resource person. Dr. Bahrawar Said, Assistant Professor and Dr. Fatima Sultana, Lecturer were the focal persons for the event. Dr. Ali delved into the critical role of sustainable finance in aligning policy frameworks with real-world actions. He emphasized how financial institutions and asset owners are pivotal in steering the economy toward sustainability by directing capital toward green initiatives, reducing carbon emissions, and incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into their strategies. Dr. Ali highlighted the challenges in translating sustainability policies into financial strategies and proposed practical solutions, instilling hope and inspiration in the audience. He advocated for more robust frameworks to make a significant impact through finance. The webinar received positive feedback from the audience, signifying a substantial milestone in raising awareness about its importance, and provided valuable insights into the potential of sustainable finance to drive meaningful change in today's financial and environmental landscapes.
