Webinar on “Realigning Pakistan’s Middle East Geo-Political and Geo-Economic Policy

Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Wah delivered a keynote speech in a webinar titled “Realigning Pakistan’s Middle East Geo-Political and Geo-Economic Policy” on 16 June, 2021. The event was organized by Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR) and aimed at highlighting contemporary geopolitics dynamics of the Middle East and its implications for Pakistan’s foreign policy. Other significant panelists in the webinar included Mr Khalid Mahmood, former ambassador of Pakistan to Iran, Iraq, China, Saudi Arabia and Mangolia; Dr Amna Mahmood, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at Department of Politics & International Relations, IIUI and Dr. Syed Qandil Abbas, Assistant Professor at School of Politics & International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, in his speech, focused on Pakistan's relations with Middle Eastern states, the challenges it harbors and the future roadmap. He emphasized the need for a novel approach towards Arab States and advised people to capitalize on the "KSA's Vision 2030" and World Football Cup 2022 in Qatar. He further shed light on Pakistan’s policy options for sustainable economic engagement, multilateral cooperation with GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states and prospects of boosting regional posture. The enlightening talk was followed by an interactive QA from participants.
