Conference on “Contemporary Issues in Biosciences”
Department of Biosciences, University of Wah, in collaboration with the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), organized a conference titled “Contemporary Issues in Biosciences” on 29 March, 2017 at the University Auditorium. Prof. Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI (M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah, was the chief guest. Conference themes included renewable energy, nanotechnology, climate change, drought and desertification in plants and metabolic/genetic disorders in humans. Director USEFP, Mr. Mazhar Awan presented an overview of the Fulbright Scholarship Program. The other key- note speakers included Prof. Shafiq ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Prof. Ehsan Ali, Director Bioenergy Institute, Faisalabad, Dr. Tariq Mehmood, Nanoscience and Technology Division, National Centre of Physics, QAU, Dr. Sohail Hameed, Deputy Chief Scientist PAEC, Dr. Arif Rasheed Goheer from Climate Change Impact Studies Centre, Dr. Amir Ali, Chairman Department of Botany, University of Sargodha and Dr. Nyla Jabeen, International Islamic University, Islamabad. Twenty posters were also displayed in the Examination Hall of the University. The audience took keen and active part in the conference proceedings.
Professor Dr. Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad SI (M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah, appreciated the efforts made by Department of Biosciences in arranging such a successful conference. He also acknowledged the support from USEFP and Fulbright Scholar Program. He thanked all the scholars and scientists who came from all over the country to deliver lectures and enlighten the audience with their expertise and experiences. He placed emphasis on research based university education. Vice Chancellor stated that the conference is a good opportunity for the students to communicate with the researchers on various topics.
