Lecture on Bio-Remediation

A lecture titled “Bio-remediation applications and its contributions with respect to ongoing and upcoming climate change challenges”, was organized by Department of Biosciences, University of Wah on 29 December, 2016 in UW auditorium. Mr. Yousaf Riaz, Director National Institute of Bio-remediation (NIB), was the resource person on the occasion. Mr. Yousaf Riaz has expertise in solid waste treatment, waste water treatment, Bio-methane gas production as fuel for rural community and organic farming. Until now he has introduced the Bioremediation technology at 92 places in different ecological zones of the country. The resource person elaborated the significant impact of climate change on ecosystems, economies and communities. He pointed out the most serious impacts of climate change i.e. its effect on water resources around the world as water is intimately tied to other resource and social issues such as food supply, health, industry, transportation and ecosystem integrity.

Vice Chancellor, Principal WEC, Deans, University Directors, Chairpersons, faculty and students from multiple departments attended the lecture.

The lecture ended with an interactive question answer session. The chief guest thanked the guest speaker for his valuable input on the subject matter. He also presented University shield to the guest speaker.
