Mashal Degree College organized Annual Science & Arts Exhibition, 2019 on 09 January, 2019. Students from various classes participated in the Exhibition and showcased more than 100 projects on a wide range of topics pertaining to the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Home Economics and Fine Arts. The projects showed their imagination and ability in the innovative world of science and arts. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah was the chief guest. He took keen interest in the exhibits and appreciated the students for their efforts. He also appreciated the MDC administration for providing the students with a brilliant opportunity to channelize their potential in a productive and efficient way. The exhibition was a huge success and it not only boosted the confidence of the students but also reflected the conducive atmosphere prevalent in the institution.

Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), University Wah, held its eighth periodic meeting on 08 January, 2019. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI (M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah, chaired the meeting. Principal Officers, Deans, Directors and senior faculty members were in attendance. The Board deliberated on the recommendations of the faculties of Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Sciences and Engineering. The Board approved the research topics and GECs of post graduate students. The Board also approved the acceptance of first ever Post-doctoral candidate in Biosciences.

Fine Arts Club, University of Wah organized the Annual Inter-faculty Drama competition on 27 December, 2018. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah was the chief guest. Ms Farzana Minhas and Ms Mehwish Fakhar were the judges. The dramas were performed on different social issues. Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities was the winner of the competition. Faculties of Basic Sciences and Management Sciences shared the second position whereas Faculty of Engineering stood third. In the end the Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged the students’ to participate actively in extra-curricular activities.

Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD), University of Wah organized mass briefings on Exam Anxiety on 19 December, 2018 for all the students of the University. Mr Maaz Ahmed, Department of Psychology, UW was the resource person. He shared valuable information regarding Exam Anxiety and guided the students in how to overcome exam anxiety through techniques and tips. The session ended with an interactive question answer session.

Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD), University of Wah organized a first ever Mental Health Camp in collaboration with Department of Psychology on 12 December, 2018 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in UW Exam Hall. The Camp was open to all students,faculty and staff of the University. The primary objective was to promote psychological well being, self-discovery and personal growth among UW populace.The camp included different activities such as:

- On spot guidance
- Personality and Mental Health assessment
- Quick tips on personal grooming and communication skills

A large number of students and faculty members from different departments of University visited the camp and appreciated the efforts done by organizers.

A six member team under the patronage of Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), HEC, visited University of Wah on 30th November, 2018 to assess and review the MS/MPhil and PhD programs of the University. The review panel included:

• Dr Tauseef Aized - University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore

• Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal -International Islamic University, Islamabad

• Dr Bushra Mirza - Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad

• Dr S. M. Usman Ali Shah - NED University, Karachi

• Dr Saeed Mahfooz - University of Peshawar

• Mr Ali Baig - Higher Education Commission, Islamabad

The team reviewed the documents pertaining to governance, programs, faculty and students, to check compliance with HEC's criteria/guidelines set for the programs offered at MPhil/MS & PhD levels. The panel conducted separate meetings with the management, faculty and the students to assess quality of programs. The review panel visited Laboratories, Library, Academic Activity rooms and other facilities for graduate programs at the University. The visit concluded with an exit -meeting with the Vice Chancellor-UW.

Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD), University of Wah organized one day workshop on ‘Resume Writing Techniques’ on 27 November, 2018 for final year students of Quaid and WEC campuses. Dr Waqas Hassan, Manager Career Counseling CPD, UW was the resource person. He shared valuable and essential information regarding how to write professional curriculum vitae and conducted an interactive practice of writing resume with students. A large number of students benefitted from the workshop. Students appreciated the efforts of University management for arranging such a pertinent and useful interaction.

Commencement 2018 of University of Wah was held on 24 November 2018. His Excellency Mr.Mohammed Sarwar, Governor of the Punjab, Chancellor University of Wah, was the Chief Guest. Lt Gen Sadiq Ali HI(M), Chairman Board of Governors, University of Wah, was the guest of honor on the occasion. A total of 981 graduates were awarded under-graduate and graduate degrees in the disciplines of Engineering,Basic Sciences, Computer Science, Management Sciences and Social Sciences & Humanities. Twenty-nine high achievers were awarded gold Medals. Five graduates were awarded Distinguished Student’s Award in their respective faculties. Ms Riffat Jamshaid was awarded the coveted student of the year award.

Governor of the Punjab congratulated the graduating students in general and the award winners in particular. He appreciated the efforts of the University in striving towards achieving positive shift in the society and focused approach of the University towards knowledge economy. He commended the efforts of the University in organizing an impressive and flawless ceremony.

The guest of honor, Lt Gen Sadiq Ali HI(M), appreciated the rapid pace of development of the University in a brief period since award of its Charter. He stated that the University is committed to a value based integrated educational philosophy and aims to develop socially responsible generation of professionals, researchers and leaders for the nation.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), highlighted the salient achievements of the University during last decade. The Vice Chancellor thanked the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor for their presence at the Commencement. He also advised the graduates to exploit on the foundations provided by the University and participate in the progress and development of the country to take it to pinnacles of glory.

The Chief Guest, Guest of Honor and the Vice Chancellor extended their felicitations to the graduates and their parents on successful culmination of the first phase of their professional education.

Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD), University of Wah organized a mass briefing on ‘Foreign Education Opportunities and Prospects for Pakistani Students’ on 06 November, 2018 for final year students of Quaid and WEC campuses. Ms Ayesha Akbar Awan, Manager International Collaborations, CPD, UW was the resource person. She shared valuable information regarding scholarship opportunities across the globe including scholarship programs in USA, UK, European and Asian Countries, specifically for Pakistani students. Students cleared their queries at the end of the lecture in an interactive question-answer session.

Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with e-Rozgaar Wah Center, organized the first of its kind conference on Entrepreneurship on 24 October, 2018. Founders of young startups, entrepreneurs, freelancers and public speakers were invited to motivate the students. The guest speakers provided guidelines to the students for development of their entrepreneurial skills. The conference aimed to promote entrepreneurial mindset and innovative culture among students.
