Counseling and Placement Directorate (CPD), University of Wah organized a mass briefing on ‘Foreign Education Opportunities and Prospects for Pakistani Students’ on 06 November, 2018 for final year students of Quaid and WEC campuses. Ms Ayesha Akbar Awan, Manager International Collaborations, CPD, UW was the resource person. She shared valuable information regarding scholarship opportunities across the globe including scholarship programs in USA, UK, European and Asian Countries, specifically for Pakistani students. Students cleared their queries at the end of the lecture in an interactive question-answer session.

Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with e-Rozgaar Wah Center, organized the first of its kind conference on Entrepreneurship on 24 October, 2018. Founders of young startups, entrepreneurs, freelancers and public speakers were invited to motivate the students. The guest speakers provided guidelines to the students for development of their entrepreneurial skills. The conference aimed to promote entrepreneurial mindset and innovative culture among students.

Directorate of Students’ Affairs University of Wah organized the Investiture Ceremony of Quaid Campus, for the academic year 2018-19 on 24 October, 2018. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah was the chief guest. Dr Imran Rais, Deputy Director Students’ Affairs presented report on the extra-curricular activities of 2017-18. The Vice Chancellor adorned the office bearers of Students’ Council and Clubs and Societies of Quaid Campus with arm bands and sashes. He congratulated the students on their achievements and wished them good luck.

UW Directorate of QA&E, organized an Awareness Session on Stress Management on 18 October, 2018. Brig Khalid Mahmood Anwar (Retd), Director-QA&E, was the resource person. Faculty and students of University of Wah attended the session. The purpose of the session was to create awareness among the participants about how to handle stress. The resource person talked about many useful techniques and approaches to release mental stress and pressures of modern times. At the end of the session, the participants discussed their issues and problems related to the topic.

Engineering Students of University of Wah participated in NED-DICE Energy and Water 2018 from 10-11 October, 2018 held at NED University Karachi. UW team secured 2 nd position amongst a total of 135 projects presented in the competition and won a prize money of Rs. 60,000/-. Well done Wah Engineering College!

Media Publication Directorate, University of Wah organized two-day training workshop on “Campus Radio in the Age of Internet” from 02-03 October, 2018 for faculty, staff and students of the University. The workshop was sponsored by a nonprofit civil society organization Pakistan Youth Change Advocates (PYCA). Resource person for the workshop was Mr Danish Saeed, Director Programs, ISPR-SUNO FM 89.4. He shared valuble information regarding the utility of radio broadcasting in the age of internet. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah was the chief guest. He distributed certificates among the participants. He appreciated the efforts done by the Media Publication Directorate in organizing the workshop. He thanked Mr Danish Saeed and presented him University shield and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Mashal Degree College organized prize distribution ceremony 2017-18 on 26 September 2018 in University auditorium. The ceremony was held to acknowledge the academic achievements of students in HSSC-I and HSSC-II Annual Examinations 2018 and award commendation certificates to the faculty members in recognition of their contributions. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, graced the occasion as chief guest. He was appreciative of the efforts made by MDC administration for arranging a befitting program. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), advised the students to follow the Islamic code of conduct. He also asked them to stay focused for the acquisition of knowledge.

Eleventh Academic Council Meeting of the University of Wah was held on 12 September, 2018. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI (M), Vice Chancellor University of Wah, chaired the meeting. Principal Officers, Deans, Directors and senior faculty members attended the meeting.

The Vice Chancellor gave a brief account of major achievements and arisings in the University since the last Academic Council Meeting including launch of Campus FM radio station, acquisition of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification and successful conduct of the fourth Multi-disciplinary Student Research International Conference 2018. He also gratefully acknowledged the gift of high precision research equipment for Department of Biosciences from Alexander Von Humboldt (AVH) Foundation, Germany.

Multiple decisions were taken including regularization of anticipatory approvals, recommendations of 7th Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), recommendations of Faculty of Engineering and launch of Advanced Diploma in Clinical Psychology.

In his concluding remarks, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of all concerned in achieving rapid academic and infrastructural growth of the University.

Alexander Von Humboldt (AVH) Foundation, Germany donated a high precision equipment for High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) worth Rs. 6,000,000/- to UW Lab Complex, University of Wah. Mr. Burghard Brinksmeier, Head of the Press & Cultural Section, German Embassy, Islamabad handed over the equipment to AVH alumni Prof Asghari Bano, University of Wah on 05 September, 2018. HPLC is a powerful tool for analyses of natural products and bioactive metabolites. It is a very sensitive equipment used in Biology and Chemistry. UW Lab Complex provides a world-class research hub equipped with latest high-tech research equipment to MS and PhD scholars pertaining to Basic Sciences.

Mr Burghard Brinksmeier appreciated Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah for establishing advanced research culture using sophisticated equipment like HPLC and hoped that the maintenance and training of the HPLC will be effectively accomplished under the control of University.

Lt Gen Sadiq Ali HI (M), Chairman POF Board, visited University of Wah on 28 August, 2018. He was received by Prof. Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor of the University who introduced him to the management and senior faculty. He apprised the Chairman about the functioning of the University, developments taken place in recent past, its achievements and goals set for future. He also briefed the Chairman regarding the challenges faced by the University. The Chairman appreciated the pace with which the University is progressing and assured of his full support and patronage. After the briefing, the Chairman electronically inaugurated the campus Radio Station, “University of Wah FM 101.8”. Senior POF officials were also present at the occasion. The Radio Station was conceived essentially to reach out to people living in Wah and surroundings. This non-commercial Campus Radio Station will broadcast educational programs, raise civic sense, increase social awareness and educate the audience about their social responsibilities. This forum will be also available to the POF’s for airing awareness / social programs. Chairman POFs Board visited the radio station and appreciated the efforts of the University management in fulfilling their civic responsibility. Chairman POFs also visited other multiple facilities of the University and planted a tree in the vicinity of Library Complex to commence 2018 Plantation Campaign. In the end, the Vice Chancellor presented the University memento to the worthy Chairman
