Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor,University of Wah chaired a meeting on 16th March 2020 regarding the current Pandemic situation engulfing the country. Principal Constituent Colleges,Deans, Principal Officers, Directors, Incharge IT and Manager IT, were present.The current situation of the country regarding COVID-19 was discussed in detail and besides enforcement of preventive measures a plan was formulated to ensure that students’ time is not be wasted due to the closure and immediate measures are implemented for online instructions to teach the students through Learning Management System (LMS), utilizing Google classroom etc. Decisions regarding the online classes and SOP for minimal staff deployment were taken. It was also decided that no gatherings, competitions or functions will be held till further orders. Delaying of Mid Semester exams by ten days and keeping Saturdays as working day on need basis after opening of the University were also taken.After the meeting the Incharge IT/ Manager briefed the Chairpersons,Coordinators and focal faculty members regarding the LMS. They also addressed the queries of the audience. The session ended with a prayer for the future of the country and hope of betterment in the situation.

The Vice Chancellor of University of Wah, Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M) had an interactive session with the Deans, Chairpersons,Coordinators and PhD faculty of the University. The Vice Chancellor welcomed informal discussion from the faculty. They discussed their issues and also provided candid suggestions for the improvement of UW’s standing in higher education institutions. Vice Chancellor assured that the pragmatic suggestions given by the faculty will be incorporated such as initiation of teachers training sessions and students’ health profiles. Vice Chancellor advised faculty to keep themselves abreast of the latest trends taking place in Research and development on international level, align it with Islamic Ethics and incorporate the same in students to nurture enhanced research culture in UW. He informed the participants about procurement of top-notch research equipment for Research Lab Complex-UW. He also told the audience about the ongoing efforts being made for the establishment of a sub-campus. The Vice Chancellor directed D ORIC to make concerted efforts for placing UW Research Journals in HEC Recognized Category. The session ended with a promise of betterment and bright prospect for the University.

An interactive session of Vice Chancellor with student representatives of UW took place on 10 March, 2020.  Students from Quaid and WEC Campuses attended the session. The session aimed at enhanced connectivity between students and top management. Students discussed their curricular, co/extra-curricular concerns with Vice Chancellor and presented their suggestions. The issues raised were addressed by Vice Chancellor with a focus on pragmatic solutions. He directed concerned departments/authorities to investigate the issues and facilitate students accordingly. He also took students’ opinions on Women’s Day activities and highlighted Islamic prerogatives assigned to Women in all areas of daily life.The session ended with a note of positivity towards UW.

University of Wah participated in an international seminar on “Cutting-Edge Software Engineering and Deep Learning” through video link on 03 March, 2020. Mr Amil Khanzada was the Guest Speaker. He has been working as Software Engineer in USA and Japan for 10 years. Currently, he is pursuing graduate Studies in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University. He highlighted the salient features and "secret sauce" of Software Engineering in the Silicon Valley and discussed the skill sets and work ethics needed to succeed in an international software engineering market. He also introduced Deep Learning and Extreme Programming Agile Methodology. Faculty and students from Faculties of Computer Science and Engineering attended the seminar. The seminar ended on an interactive question answer session.

Ms Um-e-Habiba, graduate of University of Wah and faculty member, Department of Physics, MDC secured 1st position in poster competition on Medical Physics in 4th conference on "Material Science and Nanotechnology 2020" held from 03-05 March 2020. The conference was organized by Department of Physics, GCU Faisalabad.

Fourteenth Academic Council Meeting of the University of Wah was held on 26 February, 2020. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor-UW presided over the meeting. Principal Officers, Deans, Directors and senior faculty members were in attendance. Multiple decisions were taken including the recommendations of Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), Faculties of Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities, Management Sciences and Basic Sciences. In addition, Academic Calendar 2020-21 and Migration Policy-UW was also approved. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to all present.

Debating Club, University of Wah organized Urdu and English Declamation Contest on 25 February, 2020 for the students of Quaid and WEC Campuses. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, University of Wah was the Chief Guest. Students spoke on both humorous and serious topics. Department of Mechanical Engineering won 1st position while Department of Chemistry secured 2nd position and Department of Biosciences was declared 3rd in the competition.

University of Wah organized first-ever Alumni Reunion on 22 February, 2020 to celebrate the joy of togetherness. Prof Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI(M), Vice Chancellor, UW was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Students from batches of 2005 to 2019 were invited to revive the golden memories of their stay at UW. Alumni enthusiastically participated in the event, shared their views and experiences with the audience. They extended their best wishes to their Alma Mater. They also appreciated the steps taken for setting up this new tradition. In the end, the Vice Chancellor, thanked the alumni for taking out time to attend the event. He had an interactive session with the alumni and welcomed their valuable suggestions for the betterment of the University. The Vice Chancellor also asked the alumni to stay in touch. He appreciated the organizers for arranging a successful event.

Zainab Nadeem Malik student of Mashal Degree College secured 1st Position in Humanities Group in FBISE Annual Examination, 2019. She was awarded Gold Medal, laptop and a cash prize of Rupees two hundred thousand in FBISE Prize Distribution Ceremony, 2020. President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, distributed the prizes among the position holders.

University of Wah organized the first of its kind Education Expo in WEC Campus on 16 January, 2020. Prof Dr Aftab Sadiq was the Chief Guest of the event. The Expo was planned to promote awareness regarding various programs offered at UW and its constituent colleges i.e. WEC and MDC. The participants were provided guidance and counselling regarding their future study endeavors followed by a formal visit to Quaid and WEC Campuses to experience infrastructural developments. Various departments of the University displayed stalls along with their Final Year Departmental Projects (FYDPs) for the audience. Representatives of eleven colleges participated in the Expo with great interest and enthusiasm and appreciated the efforts made by the organizers.
