University of Wah signed an MoU with ILMA University, Karachi on 19 July, 2021. The MoU is expected to pave path for active academic collaboration between both universities. It is further expected to initiate student and faculty exchanges between the two partner universities. The following major areas of cooperation have been included:

• Joint research activities
• Cultural exchange
• Organization and participation in joint activities related to workshops, webinars, seminars, and conferences
• Exchange of publication journals, case studies, reports and other academic/research material

Prof. Dr. Mansoor uz Zafar Dawood, Vice Chancellor, ILMA University and Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Department of Management Sciences, UW organized a training session on “LaTeX” on 13 July, 2021. The training was conducted as part of Faculty Training Program (FTP) focusing on use of LaTeX, a high quality typesetting system designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation, thesis writing and research articles. Engr. Muhammad Kashif Sattar was invited as resource person. He is a registered electrical Engineer (Power) with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and is currently serving as a Lecturer at HITEC University, Taxila. Faculty from various departments of UW attended the training. They appreciated the session and discussed their queries. At the end of the session, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad, Dean Management Sciences-UW presented certificates of appreciation to the guest speaker and the organizing committee.

Transforming UW into a research-intensive institution is the vision of Vice Chancellor. Hectic efforts are currently underway to materialize the vision. A research paper entitled “Generalized Mapping for Multiset Rewriting Systems” by Controller of Examination, Dr. Muhammad Athar and collaborators has recently been accepted in Springer’s internationally renowned journal viz. Soft Computing which carries an impact factor of 3.643. There search paper presents work in the area of Theoretical Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Foundations of Data Science. University of Wah signed an MoU with CONSAK Inc. Canada and University of Wah on 01 July, 2021 at University of Wah. Department of Management Sciences facilitated the ceremony. CONSAK Canada is a Premier Authorized Training Partner (ATP) of Project Management Institute (PMI), USA. According to the terms and conditions of the MoU, CONSAK will facilitate UW faculty and graduates in organizing different professional skill development trainings, workshops, certification courses (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP), Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, Lean Management, Time Management). Prof Dr Sajid Hussain, Country Representative-Pakistan, CONSAK and Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed, Director ORIC, UW singed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. At the end of the ceremony, Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed, cordially thanked Prof Dr Sajid Hussain for visiting the University of Wah. The MoU would pave path for offering of regular Continuous Professional Development activities from UW platform.

An interview of Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah was broadcasted on PTV World in the program titled “Sky is the Limit” conducted by Mr Omar Khalid Butt, correspondent for PTV News and PTV World. His key achievements include interviewing important personalities and VIPs from politicians and Prime Ministers to Ambassadors and prominent names in other domains. Among other programs, he hosts only special episodes of “Sky is the Limit”. During his interview, Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi shed light on both personal and professional dimensions of his life and elaborated upon his key achievements. Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi showed Mr Omar and the PTV team different sites of UW including UW Secretariat, UW Seminar Hall, UW Library and UW Lab Complex. They visited classrooms and showed PTV team and audience the ongoing meetings and workings of the University. Discussing his personal life, Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi, provided a flashback to his foreign tours both as part of academic and professional commitments. He reiterated his ambition to promote R&D culture in UW and to turn it into a research-oriented hub for students and faculty. The interview ended on a note of thanks.
The interview is part of the campaigning activity to attract good quality students for Fall 2021 session starting from 27 September, 2021. Earlier the Vice Chancellor was also interviewed by Prof Frank Timmes, Senior Lead Editor, American Astronomical Society Journals and a famous Astrophysicist, for his YouTube channel ASS Journal Author Series on 19th May 2021.

Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Wah delivered a keynote speech in a webinar titled “Realigning Pakistan’s Middle East Geo-Political and Geo-Economic Policy” on 16 June, 2021. The event was organized by Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR) and aimed at highlighting contemporary geopolitics dynamics of the Middle East and its implications for Pakistan’s foreign policy. Other significant panelists in the webinar included Mr Khalid Mahmood, former ambassador of Pakistan to Iran, Iraq, China, Saudi Arabia and Mangolia; Dr Amna Mahmood, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at Department of Politics & International Relations, IIUI and Dr. Syed Qandil Abbas, Assistant Professor at School of Politics & International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, in his speech, focused on Pakistan's relations with Middle Eastern states, the challenges it harbors and the future roadmap. He emphasized the need for a novel approach towards Arab States and advised people to capitalize on the "KSA's Vision 2030" and World Football Cup 2022 in Qatar. He further shed light on Pakistan’s policy options for sustainable economic engagement, multilateral cooperation with GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states and prospects of boosting regional posture. The enlightening talk was followed by an interactive QA from participants.

An MoU between Virtual University, Pakistan and University of Wah was signed on 15 June, 2021 at Virtual University (VU), Islamabad Campus. VU will assist UW regarding the conduct of UW Admission Test in 20 centers across Pakistan for Fall-2021 Session. Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector, VU and Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW singed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. The MoU will assist hundreds of applicants, living far from Rawalpindi district, to appear in UW Admission Test 2021. The 20 test centers across Pakistan would ensure full compliance with COVID-19 SOP’s and provide a conducive platform to students aspiring to pursue their higher studies in UW. Applicants living outside Pakistan can also apply and appear for the test from their home. Rector, VU also presented a souvenir to Vice Chancellor, UW as a token of appreciation. At the end of the ceremony, Rector, VU cordially thanked Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi for visiting the Virtual University, Islamabad Campus.

An MoU between Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) and University of Wah (UW) took place on 10 June, 2021. Both PCRWR and UW intend to carry out collaborative activities in areas of common interest of the organizations and agreed on joint research cooperation, technical sessions, exchange of education resource materials and satellite application for surface and groundwater monitoring. The MoU will also facilitate students from UW and its constituent colleges to undertake research at the field stations. The students will have free access to PCRWR research database. The MoU will be effective for a period of 03 years. Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman, PCRWR and Prof Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions.

Counselling and Placement Directorate (CPD) in collaboration with Department of Management Sciences, UW conducted a webinar on “Interviewing Skills” on 07 June, 2021 to benefit alumni and graduating students of UW. Dr Komal Khalid Bhatti, Associate Professor, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was the guest speaker. She is a certified trainer and academician for the last 17 years. The purpose of the session was to improve students interviewing skills while stepping into their professional lives. The session covered training about pre-interview, during interview and post-interview tactics like preparing for the interview, body language, dress code, FAQs and interview follow-up. Over 100 students and alumni from different departments of University of Wah attended the webinar. The participants appreciated speaker for her valuable contribution and stressed on future collaborations as well. The webinar concluded with an interactive QA session. At the end of the session, A/Dir CPD announced that a mock interview session will also be conducted by CPD for practice, as sequel to this webinar.

Prof Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah delivered a keynote speech on “Spectroscopic Study of 9Be (p, γ) 10B at Astrophysical Energy” in XIV International Conference on Nuclear Structure Properties, NSP2021 held on 02-04 June, 2021 at Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey. Selcuk University is amongst the most prestigious universities of Turkey. The conference aimed at providing opportunities to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish research relations and to find academic partners for future collaborations in the fields of Nuclear Structure, Nuclear Scattering, Nuclear Analytical Methods, High Energy & Particle Physics, Nuclear Astrophysics, Nuclear Reactions, Nuclear Models, Medical & Health Physics, Radiation Measurements & Dosimeters, Nuclear Application in Life Science. A large number of renowned keynote speakers and researchers from more than 15 countries including USA, Germany, Japan, China, Russia, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Spain, Poland, Belgium, Morocco, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Czech, and Bulgaria attended and communicated their research findings in the conference. In his talk, Prof Jameel highlighted the significance of radiative capture reaction in the field of nuclear astrophysics. He provided an elaborate background pertaining to nucleosynthesis sites and presented his findings about the spectroscopic properties of 10B using the PM approach. He also announced the upcoming 4th Pak Turk Conference jointly organized by University of Wah and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. He informed the audience that the conference will be held on 03-04 November 2021.
