Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement, University of Wah participated in the 2nd International Conference on Quality Assurance in Academia (ICQAA 2020-2021). Ms Nazish Nawaz, Assistant Director QA&E, UW presented a paper titled “Challenges and Prospects of Implementing ISO 9001:2015; A Case-Study of University of Wah” on behalf of the University. The conference was organized online by ILMA University, Karachi on 09 February, 2021. Conference theme was “Issues & Challenges of Developing Quality Assurance System in Developing Countries”, with diversified conference tracks. World renowned seasoned and professional experts from industry & academia of 15 countries participated and shared their research work and experiences.

An MoU between Karabuk University, Turkey and University of Wah, Wah Cantt was signed by Prof Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW on 01 February, 2021.
The MoU will help both the universities boost mutual academic pursuits including but not limited to:
        • Exchange of scholars
        • Joint research projects
        • Joint teaching and/or supervision of students
        • Joint participation in workshops and/or conferences
        • Student mobility and prospective exchange of students
        • Participation of students in Study Abroad programs hosted by each institution
Registrar, UW and Director, ORIC, UW were also present at the signing ceremony.

Directorate of Quality Assurance & Enhancement, UW organized a one-day training session titled “Preparation of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs)” for Program Team (PT) members on 28 January, 2021. Dr Muhammad Wasif Nisar, Associate Professor & Chairperson Department of Computer Science, COMSATS Wah campus was the Resource Person. Thirty-six PT members from 18 departments were trained in this session. The purpose of the training was to provide refresher training to PT Members and create awareness amongst the participants about significance of the next Cycle of Self-Assessment Process in the COVID environment. The session also included training on how to write the SARs for different academic programs. In the end, Director QA&E, UW, presented the University souvenir to the Resource Person.

Twelfth Meeting of the Board of Governors, University of Wah was held on 26 January, 2021. Chairman POFs Board and Chairman Board of Governors, University of Wah, Lt Gen Ali Amir Awan HI(M) presided over the meeting. Members of the Board comprising senior officers of POFs, MD Quality Assurance Agency from HEC, Deputy Secretary University-I from HED Punjab and Mr. Malik Taimoor Masood, MPA (PP-20) attended the meeting. Lt Gen Ali Amir Awan HI(M), Chairman, Board of Governors lauded the efforts and teamwork of the management in exhibiting UW’s positive image across Pakistan. He emphasized on advancing efforts to carve UW’s better standing amongst the leading HEIs of the country in near future. Prof Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah welcomed the Chairman and thanked the board for his selection/appointment as the Vice Chancellor of University of Wah. He briefed the house about salient academic and administrative milestones accomplished by the University since the last BOG meeting. He also discussed his agenda for bringing improvement in University with the board. After the brief introductory notes, detailed discussion was held on the different agenda items and decisions were taken on these points by the Board. At the end, Chairman, Board of Governors assured his continued support for the University of Wah and the Vice Chancellor. He appreciated the steps taken by the VC for the betterment of the University. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to all.

Rector Karabuk University, Turkey, Prof Dr Refik Polat extended congratulations to Prof Jameel-Un Nabi on assuming his responsibilities as Vice Chancellor, UW and expressed his wish to establish academic collaboration with University of Wah. A formal MoU between University of Wah and Karabuk University is currently being worked on.

Directorate of Quality Assurance & Enhancement, University of Wah in its recent HEC Scorecard for Yearly Progress Report (YPR) 2018-19 has scored 94.29% (up from 92.1% for previous year) and is placed in the Highest Category “W’’ by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. QEC scorecard is based on yearly performance of Quality Enhancement Cells of Higher Education Institutions. The criteria for evaluation includes Institutional Performance Evaluation, Program Self-Assessment, MS/MPhil/PhD Program Review, Functioning of QEC and Implementation of HEC policies.

University of Wah signed an Agreement with M/S CONSTECH on 18 January, 2021 for acquiring ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organizational Management System (EOMS) Certification. The latest International Standard, designed exclusively for the educational institutions, will further enhance and strengthen the Quality Management System (QMS), already established at the University through ISO 9001:2015 Certification achieved in 2018. It would also place University of Wah amongst the top couple of Universities in the country to have achieved this Certification.
Brig. Haroon Abbas Khan (Retd.), Registrar UW and Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, CEO M/S CONSTECH Pakistan signed the Agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

University of Wah has been named as the 29th Most Sustainable University out of 49 Pakistani Universities by UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2020. The ranking is based on a survey in the fields of environment, economy and equity and assesses sustainability policies/programs in universities across the globe to promote university-led social change with regard to sustainability goals.

Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah paid an introductory visit to Mashal Degree College (MDC) on 07 December, 2020. Ms Aneela Tabassum, Principal MDC briefed him on the facilities provided to student at MDC. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the college in providing the students with best quality education and top of the line facilities in line with international standards.

Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW had an introductory meeting with Deans of respective faculties on 07 December, 2020.The Vice Chancellor enquired about the current status of different programs at undergraduate and graduate level in all campuses. After a thorough discussion with respective Deans, he highlighted the need to introduce new academic programs in Faculty of Management Sciences and Faculty of Computer Science. He also instructed Director Academics to organize the meetings of Academic Council regularly and if need be, the same can also be conducted online keeping in view the COVID’19 scenario.
