Department of English, University of Wah organized a lecture on “How to Get through CSS and PMS” on 04 October, 2021. Mr. Bakht Rahman, Lecturer, Department of English was the resource person. He elaborated multiple techniques of handling a CSS exam. He stressed on having excellent writing skills, good preparatory material, and sound grip on various subjects of CSS. He further discussed comments given by expert CSS examiners on last year’s CSS papers. Both faculty and students attended the session with keen interest. The lecture ended with an interactive QA session.

Department of Biosciences organized a two-week practical and theoretical training on “Lab Techniques in Molecular Biology in Relation to Zoological Specimen” from 30 August, 2021 to 09 September, 2021. Dr Razia, Senior Lecturer, Department of Biosciences successfully conducted the workshop. 24 students participated in the short course. The workshop aimed at training participants in Molecular Biology and Zoological Specimen by means of hands-on training on various experiments. At the end of the short course Associate Professor Dr. Syed Waqas Hassan, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences, distributed certificates among the participants. Online feedback was also given by the participants.

Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with Department of Management Sciences organized a 2-days training on “Pakistan Stock Exchange Online Trading” on 23-24 September, 2021. The training aimed at creating awareness and enhance financial literacy of individuals to become a potential investor/trader in the financial markets of Pakistan and to contribute ultimately towards a prosperous and growing Pakistan. Mr. Shabeer Elahi, Fund Manager/Trainer; Mr. Sana Ullah Khan Marwat, Regional Manager Sales and Ms Zarifashan Amir, Executive Officer, Customer Support from Askari Securities Limited were the resource persons for the training sessions. More than 100 participants including students and teachers attended the training and learned about the pre-requisites. The training aimed at providing them hands-on knowledge about the trading in Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Department of Psychology in collaboration with DiversifyED-Psychological Education Initiative organized an online training on "Risk Assessment and Prevention of Suicide" on 24 September, 2021. Mr. Shahid Ijaz, Lecturer, Department of Psychology, Islamabad Model College for Boys, H-9 Islamabad and Mr. Maaz Ahmed, Lecturer, Department of Psychology, University of Wah were the guest speakers. The purpose of this training was to provide hands-on training and enhance the skills of students regarding risk assessment and prevention of suicide. More than 35 participants including students and faculty from University of Wah and other universities attended the training. The training ended with a detailed QA session.

Directorate of Quality Assurance & Enhancement, UW organized a one-day training session for Program Team (PT) members on 24 September, 2021. Ms. Nazish Nawaz, Assistant Director QA&E and Ms. Rida Zaheer, Data Analyst QA&E were the resource persons. Twenty-eight PT members from 18 departments were trained in this session. The purpose of the training was to train PT members on how to write Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for different academic programs. The session also included training on different types of surveys being used for SARs. Self-Assessment Process (SAP) Calendar for the 3rd Assessment Cycle (2021-2023) was discussed and shared with the PT members. The session ended with a vote of thanks to all present.

Department of English, as part of lecture/webinar series by foreign English professors, conducted its 5 th webinar on “Irish Studies and Irish Literature in English” on 22 September, 2021. Prof Dr Fabio Luppi from Universita Degli Studi Roma Tre, Italy was the guest speaker. During his lecture, he highlighted the salient features of Irish Literature with a special focus on father-son archetype. He discussed how conflicting relationship between father and son, in the aftermath of colonization, played a key role in shaping the thematic substance of Irish theatre. He also quoted examples from famous Irish writers including W. B. Yeats and James Joyce.an interactive question answer session was held at the end of the lecture. Associate Prof Dr Rasib Mahmood, Chairperson, Department of English extended his gratitude to Prof Dr Fabio Luppi for his insightful talk.

Department of Management Sciences in collaboration with Counseling and Placement Directorate organized a workshop on “Time Management for Personal Grooming”. Ms. Faiza Usman, a qualified project management expert and CEO of “Self-Improvement Trainings”, was the resource person. The purpose of the training was to highlight the importance of time in day- to-day life and to help young generation in achieving right objectives. The training was attended by over 50 participants, including students, faculty, and participants from outside the university. The participants actively participated in different activities. In the end, Prof Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences distributed the certificates among the participants. The participants stressed on planning and conducting such informative and valuable training sessions for students in future also.

Botanical Society and Central herbarium-UW jointly organized a one-day workshop on “Industrial Applications of Plants & Digitization of Herbarium” on 21 September, 2021. Prof Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Plant Sciences, QAU, Islamabad graced the event as guest speaker. He highlighted how awareness about new methods such as biodiesel use for running of automobiles and the importance of different plants in different regions of Pakistan are a source of vital drugs for curing various diseases including epilepsy, skeletal disorders, oral cancer and many more. Associate Prof Dr Syed Waqas Hassan, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences shared his thoughts and opinions. A practical session was conducted on preparation of herbarium and the methods involved in assembling it. Prof Dr Uzma Ghazanfar, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, UW presented souvenirs to the guest speaker. The participants appreciated organizers for arranging an engaging event.

Department of Management Sciences, UW organized a seminar titled “Understanding towards HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS)” on 20 September, 2021. Dr Muhammad Yar Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Sciences, CUI, Wah Campus was invited as the resource person. The seminar covered the basics of HJRS system to help researchers clear their ambiguities regarding this system and the related HEC policies. The speaker also enlightened the participants about HEC recognized journals in all categories ranging from Engineering to Social Sciences. Certificates were distributed among the participants at the end of the event.

Department of Statistics organized a webinar titled "Population Growth in Pakistan" on 20 September, 2021. Dr. Rizwan ul Haq, Assistant Professor and Senior Demographer, PIDE, Islamabad was the guest speaker. The webinar was arranged in compliance to the instructions of HEC under the 4 th meeting of the Federal Task Force (FTF) on population. The guest speaker compared the growth rate of Pakistan with other countries and shed light on the drastic consequences of rapid population growth rate in Pakistan. More than 40 participants including students and faculty attended the webinar. The webinar ended with an interactive QA session.
